“To drink from the waters of oblivion is to loose the ties of the past.” Quiver Distr. has revealed the official US trailer for an eco-thriller survival film titled The Well, a Canadian production from filmmaker Hubert Davis (director of Black Ice + upcoming Youngblood hockey movie). This already premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival in Canada and will be out on VOD in the US starting March. In a world where environmental collapse has left survivors to fight over the precious resources, a young woman’s loyalties are tested by the arrival of a wounded man who learns her family has a secret supply of freshwater. Fantasia adds: “Steeped in tension and pathos, Davis builds a world where the threats aren’t made of fantasy; he acknowledges real environmental consequences and potential future in this riveting sci-fi thriller.” The indie survival thriller stars Joanne Boland, Noah Lamanna, Sheila McCarthy, Steven McCarthy, and Shailyn Pierre-Dixon as Sarah Devine. Alas this looks just like so many other boring post-apoc films, not much to see here.
Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Hubert Davis’ thriller film The Well, direct from YouTube:
Sarah Devine (Shailyn Pierre-Dixon) means everything to her two parents, Paul and Elisha. They live in a harrowing, post-apocalyptic time, but it’s not the typical supernatural threat. The world is experiencing environmental collapse, scarce resources, and illness that isolates people. In a world where environmental collapse has left survivors to fight over the precious remaining resources, a young woman’s loyalties are tested by the arrival of a wounded man who discovers her family has a secret supply of freshwater. The Well is directed by Academy Award & Emmy-nominated Canadian filmmaker Hubert Davis, director of the films Invisible City, Darkness and Hope, Giants of Africa, and Black Ice previously, plus many other short films. The screenplay is written by Michael Capellupo and Kathleen Hepburn. Produced by Coral Aiken and director Hubert Davis. This first premiered at the 2025 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal earlier this year. Quiver Distr. releases Davis’ The Well film direct-to-VOD starting March 20th, 2026 next year.
